“We make a living by what we get. We make a life by what we give.” – Winston Churchill

‘Tis the season of giving, and a special time that allows us to reflect on the past year, and how fortunate we are as a company to be able to give of ourselves, not only monetarily, but through service and action, as well.  We at Cornerstone are focused on community-based fundraising, not only within the global mobility community, but also within the communities that we live and work. Throughout the year we strive to donate to causes that continuously prove to make impactful changes to those in need.

As an organization, we stand behind our parent company, Atlas World Group, and their commitment to Move for Hunger: an organization that partners with relocation, transportation and real estate companies across North America to pick up unwanted, unopened food from those who are relocating and deliver it to local food banks. To date, Move for Hunger has delivered more than 8,000,000 pounds of food to food banks across the US & Canada, which account for 6,666,667 meals for people in need. We were more than thrilled to be able to present Move for Hunger with a holiday donation, on behalf of our clients, at the 2017 Atlas Convention in San Diego.

Additionally, our service centers and offices across the country collect for local food banks on a monthly basis – focusing on a much-needed item per month - whether it be paper goods, canned goods or boxed goods. As we all know, 2017 was a devastating year in terms of natural disasters that we saw not only here in the US, but across the globe as well. When Hurricane Harvey and Hurricane Irma hit very close to home, our employees sprang into action collecting water bottles, nonperishable food items, personal hygiene items, diapers and a host of other necessities to Trusted World. We also partnered with SafePet Transport to donate much needed items to the four-legged victims of Hurricane Harvey.

This year, we were also recognized as the Diamond Sponsor at the Worldwide ERC Foundation’s Annual Gala, which seeks to provide a philanthropic opportunity to give back to the community - and supports Family Promise: a national organization helping families experiencing homelessness attain sustainable independence. This year's Gala saw the largest fundraising event ever, with over $75,000 raised.

As the holidays approach, it always warms our hearts to see our employees continuously giving of their time and services. We have a long-standing tradition of brightening the holidays of those in need by participating in the United Way’s “Gifts of the Season” program. Providing a gift sends a message to struggling families that someone cares, and we are thrilled each year to collect gifts for children, seniors and adults with disabilities. We’re also incredibly proud of our very own Jeanette Oakeshott, President-Elect of the Rotary Club of Naperville Sunrise (Illinois), who was recently featured on the local news for her work in coordinating their annual Winter Clothing Drive. Jeanette and members of our Midwest service center have volunteered in placing boxes throughout the community to collect donations of coats, jackets, hats, gloves, scarves and mittens.

If you so choose, please consider donating to any of the wonderfully impactful charities we’ve listed above, or some place that strikes close to your heart. As they say, giving is receiving. Happy Holidays from the entire team at Cornerstone Relocation Group!
